Mai-Britt Schultz CEO at Kragekaer Artschool, Fine artist, Author, and Stage designer
My main competence is to make impressions into expressions

Born1962
Work and live on the small island Tåsinge in the south of Denmark in an old dairy with my husband, a friend, hens, and several cats

Master in fashion design and stage design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design Copenhagen 1988 Besides that I’ve taken master classes in art, communication, fundraising, history, art history etc. I consider myself a Renaissance person – interested in and inquisitive on everything.

Among friends I’m considered to be fairly annoying when playing games like Trivial Pursuit.

I’ve been teaching art, painting, and history for more than 35 years both grownups, and young adults. Just to mention some of the schools: Svendborg Art School. Ryslinge Højskole, Langelands Kunsthøjskole, Båring Højskole, Helnæs Højskole, Den Frie Lærerskole etc. Today I own and teach on “Kragekær Art School” where I for the last 20 years have mainly been focusing on teaching painting, drawing and watercolour. The school have around 200 students a year, both my own classes and classes with visiting artists. My students are mainly grownups with ambitions.

Beside that I write columns, articles, and books. The books are primarily about historical characters and events often with my own illustrations. Among them are “What you didn’t know about Denmark” and “What you either didn’t know about Denmark” both in company with the historian Rasmus Dahlberg and published on Gyldendal. I have written and illustrated books like “Svendborg trough 1000 years”, “Peter Willemoes, a Danish sea hero”, and a book and website about the Danish rococo poet Ambrosius Stub etc.

Besides that I’ve done a lot of illustrations for children’s books, book covers, logos, flyers, magazines, newspapers and websites. As a Stage designer I’ve worked on several Danish theatres all over the country. Right now, I’m working on the stage design for “Fjeren og Rosen” a signature play for “The Landsstævne 2022”. It’s a performance with around 600 participants, 6-meter-high puppets, and a symphony orchestra. It will take place at Svendborg Harbour in the summer of 2022.

As an artist I’ve got long list of exhibitions, projects and assignments here’s just a few: The Art Building in Roskilde: “Dansk Akvarel udstilling” The Art Building in Svendborg SAK: Summer exhibition 1995 The Art Building in Svendborg SAK: RUM 1997 Group exhibition at Brandts Klædefabrik Odense.
